Short Bio

Ida B. Wells (also known as Ida B. Wells-Barnett) was a fearless African American journalist, activist, and a leading figure in the early Civil Rights Movement. Born into slavery, she became an educator and outspoken writer who exposed the horrors of lynching in the American South.  

Wells also fought for women's suffrage and was a co-founder of the NAACP.
